Israel West Bank crimes
Israeli forces have killed three Palestinians during a raid on an area near the West Bank city of Jenin. The three Palestinians lost their lives in the village of Kafr Qud. Following the raid, the Israeli military carried out an airstrike in the area and seized the bodies of the slain Palestinians. The Palestinian resistance movement Islamic Jihad condemned the killing, calling it the latest in a pattern of war crimes and systematic abuses committed by Israeli forces against defenseless civilians. Meanwhile, ten Palestinians have been arrested by the regime’s forces during fresh incursions. The occupied West Bank has been witnessing intensified military raids and settler violence against Palestinians since October 2023, when the genocide in Gaza began.
Slamming foreign interference
The Iranian President has slammed foreign interference in the region, as he addressed a meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Tehran. Addressing the fourth summit of the ECO interior ministers, Masoud Pezeshkian described the bloc as a vital platform for political convergence and a bridge connecting regional countries. He called for durable and resilient mechanisms to strengthen economic as well as security cooperation, particularly in combating terrorism in the region. He further denounced the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza as the most heinous crime against humanity in world history.
Tensions in the Caribbean
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has ordered the suspension of all energy-related cooperation with Trinidad and Tobago after it allowed a US warship to dock in its territory. President Maduro said he approved a proposal from the oil ministry to immediately suspend a cooperation agreement with Trinidad. He denounced the pro-US stance of the government in Port of Spain, amid rising tensions between Washington and Caracas. The measure is expected to affect several joint oil and gas projects, including the development of the Dragon natural gas field, which is a crucial source for Trinidad’s energy-dependent economy. On Sunday, a US warship docked in Trinidad, just two days after Washington announced the deployment of an aircraft carrier group to Latin America. Venezuela condemned the move as a psychological war against the country and vowed to respond accordingly.
