Iran summons Polish envoy over ‘meddlesome’ claims, dismisses anti-Tehran 'show' in UK Parliament
Iran’s Foreign Ministry has summoned Poland’s chargé d'affaires in Tehran to protest false claims made by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski against Tehran.
While on a trip to London on Tuesday, Sikorski presented the UK Parliament with an Iranian-made drone, which he alleged is used by Russia in its ongoing war in Ukraine, and urged continued support for Kiev.
The head of Poland’s representative office in Tehran, Marcin Wilczek, was summoned on Thursday by Mahmoud Heidari, assistant to the Iranian foreign minister and director general of Mediterranean and Eastern European affairs at Iran’s Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, Heidari protested the Polish FM’s involvement in an "anti-Iran show" in the UK Parliament, and dismissed his “meddlesome” statements and “baseless” claims.
He also expressed regret over the repetition of clichéd claims, conveying Iran’s strong protest to the Polish diplomat.
Wilczek said Warsaw is keen to boost relations with Tehran and said he would urgently convey Iran's protest to his country.
Both Iran and Russia have repeatedly rejected allegations that Tehran supplied Moscow with drones, ballistic missiles, and related technology for use in the war in Ukraine.
