"No new truce deal"
Hamas has condemned Israel for seeking a new agreement contrary to the one the two sides have already agreed to. Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan stressed that the only way to free the remaining Israeli captives is to enter the second phase of the current ceasefire deal. He condemned Israeli violations during Phase one. They include 210 aerial breaches, preventing displaced people from returning, 116 deaths, delays in prisoner releases, and blocking trade and humanitarian aid. Despite these, Hamdan reaffirmed Hamas' commitment to the implementation of the deal’s second phase. He also called on the international community to pressure Israel into allowing vital aid into Gaza, and ensuring a just solution to guarantee Palestinians' self-determination.
Iran nuclear program
The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency is meeting in Vienna, Austria. The IAEA director general will be presenting his report on Iran's nuclear program. Grossi made the comments during a press conference after the morning session. He again emphasized the need for constructive talks with Iran on its nuclear program. A key item on the agenda is Grossi’s report on the supervision and verification of Iranian nuclear activities within the framework of the Safeguards Agreement. Iran has repeatedly rejected allegations regarding undeclared nuclear activities or materials. Tehran has stressed it is prepared to cooperate with the IAEA to address any issue.
Russia blames West
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has criticized Western leaders' commitment to increasing military aid to Ukraine, asserting that such actions hinder prospects for peace. Peskov emphasized that the pledges, including Britain's 2 billion dollar air-defense missile deal, would extend the conflict. He says Volodymyr Zelensky should be forced to make peace as his public clash with the US President has shown just how hard it would be to find a way to end the war. Peskov also warned of "grave legal consequences" if frozen Russian assets are transferred to Ukraine.
