Trump tariff war 

France warns that the European Union will retaliate if the US maintains the tariff hikes on European goods. Speaking on the sidelines of the G20 finance ministers meeting in Cape Town, the French Finance Minister Eric Lombard warned the U-S that the bloc would protect its interests. He also confirmed negotiations with the U-S on April 2nd with the aim of reaching a fair agreement. The Spanish Prime Minister has also warned that EU’s response to US tariff hikes will be  "proportionate". This comes after President Trump vowed 25-percent tariff hikes for European goods during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, claiming that the EU was created to screw the United States. 

Gaza ceasefire phase 2 

Hamas says it is fully committed to the ceasefire agreement with Israel and is prepared to enter talks on implementing the second phase of the deal. The group called on mediators, the international community, and all relevant parties to ensure that Israel upholds its obligations and the terms of the agreement. Hamas stressed the vital role these parties play in preventing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his cabinet from undermining the deal. Saturday will mark the end of the ceasefire’s first phase. Netanyahu is sending a negotiating team to Egypt's Cairo for further talks. The agreement took effect on January 19, following 15 months of relentless Israeli attacks on the Gaza strip. Nearly 48,400 were killed and more than 111,000 others wounded during Israel’s genocide in gaza.

Gaza communication blackout 

Palestinians in Gaza are facing a communication blackout as infrastructure has been destroyed or badly damaged during Israel’s war on their territory. The problem persists more than a month into the ceasefire, as the equipment needed to repair systems are not allowed due to Israeli restrictions.
