Independent British MP Jeremy Corbyn challenges UK govt. over complicity in Israel's Gaza genocide

Independent British MP Jeremy Corbyn has called for transparency regarding the UK government's role in Israel's ongoing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

In a letter sent to the UK Foreign Office on Wednesday, he urged the government to confirm if the RAF Akrotiri base in Cyprus was being used as a route for weapons shipments to the occupying regime.

He also demanded answers on whether or not the UK would suspend the export of F-35 fighter jet components to Israel.

"I remain astounded by your government's admission that it is making an exception to the UK's legal obligations," he wrote in the letter.

"The Foreign Secretary has accepted the fact that F-35 jets are being used in violation of international humanitarian law. By justifying the continued licensing of F-35 jet parts, your government is admitting its complicity in war crimes."

On Tuesday, Corbyn, who formerly led the British Labor Party, posted a video of his address to the UK parliament, where he denounced the supply of Western weapons to the Israeli regime.

“Israel’s ability to destroy life in Gaza and kill 45,000 people and destroy medical facilities is only possible because of the supply of weapons, principally from the United States," he said.

Last month, a report by the British Palestine Committee (BCP) suggested that London’s involvement in Israel's Gaza onslaught is “much deeper than has been acknowledged in most press coverage”.

‘End all arms sales to Israel, now’: Corbyn

Jeremy Corbyn, the former leader of the UK Labour Party and a human rights advocate, has reiterated his call for an end to all arms sales to Israel.

Israel launched its brutal offensive against Gaza on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian Hamas resistance group carried out a historic operation against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

So far, the criminal regime has killed at least 45,936 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 109,274 others, in the besieged territory.
