Fake News US Media pushing 'Sleepy Joe' hard: Trump

US President Donald Trump has slammed the mainstream American media and former Vice President Joe Biden, as the Democratic hopeful launches the campaign for the 2020 presidential election.

“The Media (Fake News) is pushing Sleepy Joe hard. Funny, I’m only here because of Biden & Obama. They didn’t do the job and now you have Trump, who is getting it done - big time!” Trump wrote on Monday.

Trump also lashed out at union leaders after a major firefighters’ labor group endorsed Biden.

“I’ll never get the support of Dues Crazy union leadership, those people who rip-off their membership with ridiculously high dues, medical and other expenses while being paid a fortune. But the members love Trump,” the president said.

“I'm sick of this President badmouthing unions,” Biden responded later in a tweet. “Labor built the middle class in this country. Minimum wage, overtime pay, the 40-hour week: they exist for all of us because unions fought for those rights. We need a President who honors them and their work.”

On Monday, Biden secured the backing of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). He got the endorsement as he prepares to stage his opening campaign rally in Pittsburgh later in the day.

“The Dues Sucking firefighters leadership will always support Democrats, even though the membership wants me. Some things never change!” Trump tweeted.

According to a recent poll, Biden has topped a list of 2020 Democratic presidential contenders despite several women complaining about inappropriate touching.

According to a latest poll by the Morning Consult released on April 8, Biden stood at the top of a list of candidates that voters, who say they intend to participate in the Democratic primaries next year, will elect.

Sanders is being cheated again: Trump 

On Saturday night, Trump warned Senator Bernie Sanders, who lost his battle for the Democratic nomination in 2016 to Hillary Clinton, that he is being cheated again by the Democratic Party.

“The Democratic National Committee, sometimes referred to as the DNC, is again working its magic in its quest to destroy Crazy Bernie Sanders....,” the president began, following those remarks with: “....for the more traditional, but not very bright, Sleepy Joe Biden. Here we go again Bernie, but this time please show a little more anger and indignation when you get screwed!”

Trump had previously sympathized with Sanders over his election defeat in 2016 and criticized the Democratic Party's treatment of the veteran politician during his White House bid at that time.

Bernie Sanders has been treated terribly by the Democrats—both with delegates & otherwise. He should show them, & run as an Independent,” he tweeted on May 5, 2016. He added two weeks later: “Bernie Sanders is being treated very badly by the Democrats - the system is rigged against him. Many of his disenfranchised fans are for me!”

‘DNC favored Clinton over Sanders’

The 77-year-old Sanders announced in February he will run again for president in the 2020 election, calling Trump a "pathological liar" and an “embarrassment” to America.

Sanders, an independent who caucuses with Democrats, made an unsuccessful bid for the presidency in 2016, losing out to Clinton, who in turn was defeated by Trump.

Sanders mounted a fierce challenge to the former secretary of state as he spoke to swelling crowds and garnered passionate support on social media. His 2016 campaign also rejected the use of corporate money and instead relied on small-dollar donations.

His call for universal health care, a $15 minimum wage and free public university education has gained huge strong support among young liberals.

A former mayor of Burlington, Vermont, Sanders won a US House of Representatives seat in 1990, making him the first independent elected to the House in 40 years. In 2006, he won a US Senate seat and in 2018 was voted in for a third six-year term.

Sanders has been a relentless critic of Trump, and has called him “the most dangerous president in modern American history.”

The primaries and caucuses that determine the party's nominee will begin in February 2020 in the US state of Iowa.
