US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called the invasion of Iraq a “tremendous success” one day after it was launched.

The outspoken businessman has made his self-alleged opposition to the Iraq War a central talking point on the campaign trail.

Trump has also accused former President George W. Bush, brother of primary rival Jeb Bush, of lying about the rationale for the invasion.

However, in an interview with Fox News one day into the invasion, Trump did not express any opposition to the war, and in fact characterized it as “a tremendous success from a military standpoint.”

The real estate mogul predicted that Wall Street would continue to benefit from the war.

“Well, I think Wall Street’s waiting to see what happens but even before the fact they’re obviously taking it a little bit for granted and it looks like a tremendous success from a military standpoint and I think this is really nothing compared to what you’re gonna see after the war is over,” Trump said in the interview on March 21, 2003, the audio of which was obtained by BuzzFeed News.

“I think Wall Street’s just gonna go up like a rocket, even beyond, and it’s gonna continue and, you know, we have a strong and powerful country and let’s hope it all works out,” he continued.

On Thursday, BuzzFeed News also uncovered audio file of another interview Trump gave to the Howard Stern Show in September 2002, in which he expressed support for an invasion of Iraq.

“Are you for invading Iraq?” Trump was asked, to which he answered, “Yeah, I guess so.”
