Response to aggression
A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps says the Iranian Armed Forces have so far taken a defensive approach to the enemy’s aggression, but they may take an offensive approach in the future. Brigadier General Yadollah Javani reiterated that Iran has never started a war, but it is now in the middle of war and the country’s Armed Forces will change their approach to the enemy's aggression. He added that any action needed to defend the country, ensure its security, and neutralize the enemy’s threats will be taken at the appropriate time. The commander stressed that Iran's enemies are not in a position to take any surprise move against the country, and must instead expect strategic surprises from Iranian forces. Javani described Israel as a proxy force for the US and Europe, saying the Zionist regime is not capable of waging war on Iran on its own. The commander said the enemy started the war on the basis of a miscalculation, but failed to achieve its intended goals.
Canada aiding US aggression
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has slammed Canada for aiding and abetting the US-led aggression against Iran. The ministry’s spokesman said Ottawa’s subservience has turned it into Washington’s farm team. Esmaeil Baghaei made the comment in a social media post after some reports revealed Canada’s secret role in helping the US aggression against Iran. He said the United States takes every possible step to humiliate Canada, including calling Canada its 51st state, and imposing tariffs on Canadian goods. Baghaei noted that Washington also insults Ottawa and threatens to punish it over wildfire smoke. He was referring to US President Donald Trump's threat to impose new tariffs on Canada after hundreds of wildfires left much of the northern United States covered by a blanket of smoke. Baghaei said Canada responds to the United States’ humiliating and threatening behavior by becoming even more subservient. He noted that in line with this policy, Ottawa participated in the US-led unlawful war of choice against Iran, to appease Washington. He concluded his post with a sharp rebuke, saying this is not hockey night in Canada, it is Washington's farm team.
West Bank settler violence
The UN humanitarian office has issued a new warning over the sharp escalation of settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, saying Palestinians are being killed and displaced in large numbers. According to the UN office, groups of armed Israeli settlers have carried out nearly 3,000 attacks targeting Palestinian towns, villages, and farms across the occupied West Bank between January 2025 and June 2026. The international organization said in its statement that Palestinians are facing systematic killings and widespread forced displacement, which have affected large numbers of residential and Bedouin communities. It added that settler attacks have resulted in hundreds of serious injuries among Palestinians. The attacks have also caused widespread damage to property and infrastructure, including burning of homes and mosques, and destruction of water networks and private property. OCHA emphasized that all settler attacks are carried out under the direct cover and protection of Israeli forces.
