Israel Gaza onslaught

The Israeli regime’s genocide in Gaza continues, with its focus remaining on destroying more residential buildings and infrastructure in Gaza City. An attack on a house in western Gaza City killed four Palestinians. Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation remains dire. In the past 24 hours alone, the dead bodies of 10 people seeking aid arrived at hospitals in the besieged Strip. Since end of May, when the US-administered Gaza Humanitarian Foundation began its aid distribution, nearly 2,500 people have been killed in or near those sites. The overall death toll has now surpassed 64,800 since the start of Israel’s genocidal war in October 2023.

Doha summit

Qatar has called on the international community to take measures to hold the Israeli regime accountable for crimes it has committed against the Palestinian people. Al Thani was addressing the emergency Arab and Islamic summit in the Qatari capital. He touched upon the Israeli attack targeting Hamas leaders in Doha last week, saying the strike can only be described as 'state terrorism.' He said Israel's continued violation of international law was evident in the barbaric attack on Doha. The Iranian Foreign Minister, who is in Doha, reiterated Tehran's solidarity with Qatar and its strong condemnation of the Israeli attack. The main summit, scheduled for Monday, will bring together heads of state, including Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Doha, along with its partners, is working on a coordinated response to Israel’s Tuesday strike, which left at least five people dead.

Romania-Russia tension

Romania says it will raise the issue of Russian drones at the UN General Assembly after claiming that a number of them entered its airspace. Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Toiu condemned what she called Russia’s drone provocations. She urged strict enforcement of sanctions against Moscow. The development comes after a similar incident in Poland, where Russian drones entered Polish airspace during a large-scale assault on Ukraine. Warsaw responded by scrambling fighter jets with NATO support, shooting down multiple aircraft. Moscow said the drones were never intended to enter Polish airspace.
