Millions of pilgrims have gathered in Iraq for this year’s Arbaeen walk, which has taken on a powerful new tone amid recent regional tensions.
Iran’s defense during the 12-day Israeli-imposed war in June has drawn widespread support, which has been visibly expressed along the pilgrimage route.
