Bahman Nooraei is a PhD candidate in International Relations at the highly esteemed University of Tehran. He’s also a holder of two master’s degrees, one in French Language and Literature, and another in Translation Studies, both from the University of Tehran.
He has been working as a professional conference interpreter for the past 20 years, interpreting for famous figures from the worlds of art and politics from around the globe. He has also hosted many bilingual ceremonies and conferences. He is a university lecturer now and teaches public speaking, debate, consecutive and simultaneous interpreting courses.
His professional background is interesting and multi-faceted. He began working as a sports journalist at the popular Abrar Varzeshi newspaper in 1999 and moved on to become the paper’s European Football Editor for two years before switching to a career in Conference Interpreting and broadcast journalism.
He’s worked with Iran’s most prestigious film festivals such as Fajr (20 years) and Cinema Verite (14 years) as an organizer and interpreter. He has also worked as Head of Business and Marketing at the Documentary and Experimental Film Centre (DEFC) for nearly 6 years and has been on the juries and Selection Committees of different international film festivals.
Nooraei hosted the first two seasons of the highly popular We the People show on Press TV back in 2017-18 and currently also hosts the Sobh talk show on the channel.
