The local governor of the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine has called on civilians to urgently evacuate the city of Sloviansk, as Russian forces push ahead to capture the entire Donbass.

Russia says its troops have taken full control of Lysychansk as the push to drive Ukrainian forces out of the eastern Donbas region goes into high gear.

Ukraine says it has ordered troops to withdraw from the key battleground city of Sievierodonetsk after weeks of fierce street fighting.

Moscow has accused Western powers of not allowing Ukraine to resume the stalled peace negotiations with Russian officials.
