Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declares victory in parliamentary elections, however, his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to secure an outright national majority.

The world’s largest, seven-phase general election in India has finally concluded and the vote count is currently underway with all indications that the ruling party will retain power.

Indians have voted in the final phase of a six-week national election, with both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his rivals saying they win the polls.
