Danish PM says Jews 'part of Denmark'
The Danish prime minister has rejected a call by her Israeli counterpart on European Jews, especially those in Denmark, to immigrate to Israel.
Helle Thorning-Schmidt made the comment in the wake of the attack on a synagogue in Denmark's capital Copenhagen early Sunday. That was earlier echoed by Danish Jewish Society. It said Denmark, rather than Israel, remains the home for Danish Jews. French President Francois Hollande had also defied Netanyahu on his call. Hollande said, during a visit to Danish embassy in Paris, that Jews are welcome in Europe, especially in France.
