Russian aviation authorities said on Sunday that a Russian-registered charter plane carrying six people disappeared from radar screens over Afghanistan after Afghan police said they had received reports of a crash.

Russia’s Investigative Committee has officially confirmed that Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner military group, was killed in a plane crash last week.

The president also said it was necessary to await the outcome of the official investigation into the crash
