Iran and Venezuela keep developing their political and economic ties, especially since the recent visit of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to Iran. From Caracas, Press TV correspondent Jesus Silva reports.

Iran rejects an Israeli media report that links one of its diplomats to a fake bomb incident in the Uruguayan capital. The Iranian Embassy in Montevideo says publishing a false report against one of its diplomats aims to create Iranophobia. The embassy stressed that the move is aimed at damaging the international image of Iran. On January eight, police discovered an object suggestive of a bomb near the new Israeli Embassy in Montevideo. Following this, the Israelis published a false report, blaming Iran for the incident. On Friday, the Uruguayan government rejected the accusation by Israeli media. Tehran has noted that in the past, Tel Aviv has ordered attacks against its own embassies in India and Georgia, and blame them on Tehran, in order to tarnish Iran's image in the host countries.

The new Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, has held top-level talks in Brussels with the aim of restructuring his country's enormous debts. Germany has again ruled out any debt cancellation for Greece. Experts say if Greece ends up leaving the eurozone because of the crisis, it could spell the end of the struggling currency. An agreement between the U-S and India to strengthen geo-strategic partnership is not seen as favorable by Islamabad. The US president’s recent visit to India and the nuclear deal between the two sides have been criticized by many in Pakistan who believe such moves will have detrimental impacts on peace in South Asia.
