Local IRGC commander martyred in anti-terror operation in southeastern Iran

Brigadier General Hossein Zarifi has been martyred while taking part in an operation against enemy-backed terrorists in Saravan, southeastern Iran, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says.

The IRGC Ground Forces’ Quds Regional Headquarters announced Zarifi’s martyrdom in a statement on Wednesday, describing him as a courageous commander who was killed while defending the Islamic homeland.

The “sacred soil of Sistan and Balochistan Province once again witnessed the martyrdom of a courageous commander and a man of action serving on the front lines of national security and the defense of the Islamic homeland,” it said.

General Zarifi, commander of the Shahid Sajjad Operational Headquarters in Saravan, was martyred while taking part in an operation against enemy-backed terrorists, according to the statement.

He was on the front lines of the battle, sacrificing his life for the security of the people and the defense of Iran’s borders, it added.

IRGC dismantles terrorist team in southeastern Iran, killing five

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force has smashed a team of terrorists in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, killing five gunmen and capturing several others.

The Quds Regional Headquarters extended its condolences over the martyrdom of General Zarifi to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, his family, fellow combatants and the people of Sistan and Balochistan Province.

The statement added that the path started by the martyrs through their sacrifice would be pursued with determination.

The funeral procession for the martyred commander is scheduled to be held in Saravan on Friday, with large crowds expected to attend.

In recent weeks, Iran's southeastern and western border regions have witnessed a series of terrorist attacks targeting security forces and civilians alike.

The attacks come amid mounting evidence that hostile foreign powers—chief among them the United States and the Israeli regime—have been actively working to destabilize the Islamic Republic by arming, funding, and infiltrating terrorist groups into the country's border areas.

American officials have spoken openly about "supporting opposition groups" and "empowering voices inside Iran," while Israeli leaders have repeatedly boasted of their efforts to "export terrorism" and "ignite chaos" within Iran's borders.

Intelligence revelations and intercepted communications have further exposed the direct role of Western and Israeli spy agencies in recruiting, training, equipping, and deploying terrorist elements into Iran.

Iran's security forces, including the IRGC and its Quds Regional Headquarters, have consistently acted as a bulwark against these plots.
