Analysts assess US pressure campaign on Iran, its global fallout

The discussion examines the wider economic impact of the US pressure campaign against Iran and its potential consequences for the global economy. Political analysts Sakina Datoo and Syed Mohsin Abbas join the review to assess the implications.

Datoo argues that continued alignment with Washington and the Israeli regime is exposing the Persian Gulf states and Europe to growing risks, particularly over the Strait of Hormuz, which she says Iran could use as leverage to demand an end to aggression against Gaza and foreign military involvement in the region.

Abbas, meanwhile, turns the focus to economic vulnerabilities facing the US, arguing that if Donald Trump is warning of an economic “D-Day,” the first one on the horizon may be in the US itself, citing its mounting debt, heavy military spending, and growing pressure on the dollar, which he says could accelerate de-dollarization and undermine Washington’s global economic dominance.
