Iran’s military vows ‘crushing response’ to US aggression

Iran’s top military command vows that the Islamic Republic’s Armed Forces will deliver a “crushing response” to the US’s most recent acts of aggression targeting the country, pledging not to allow Washington to interfere in the management of the Strait of Hormuz.

Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters made the remarks in a statement on Wednesday after repeated acts of American aggression targeted southern Iranian areas.

Promising not to let the “American terrorism” go unanswered, the headquarters stressed that Washington’s efforts to meddle in the waterway’s affairs will “under no circumstances” stay unpunished.

“It is reiterated that the only safe passage for commercial vessels and oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz is the route designated by the Islamic Republic,” it asserted.

The statement reminded that the “blatant aggression” had reflected “complete disregard for the United States’ commitments” under a memorandum of understanding signed with Iran last month.

Earlier, Iranian media outlets reporting on the violations cited several explosions heard near the Sirik County and Qeshm Island in the southern Iranian Hormozgan Province.

A correspondent for the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), meanwhile, reported that enemy projectiles had “injured several people” in Sirik’s fishing and commercial port.

A ports and maritime administration official in the province also reported “black smoke” billowing behind the fish market in the port city of Bandar Abbas, identifying it as “the result of enemy projectiles striking the Bandar Abbas fishing pier, causing a number of local civilian fishing boats to catch fire.”

This is, by far, not the first time, when the United States targets the Iranian soil following the April 7 announcement of a unilateral ceasefire by US President Donald Trump that preceded talks leading to the MoU.

Iran’s Armed Forces have responded to each instance with decisive retaliatory strikes against strategic and sensitive American targets across the region.

The headquarters, meanwhile, noted that the most recent acts of aggression had come at a time, when neighboring Iraq was slated to host extensive funeral processions for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The command unit cited the millions-strong public turnout, which was witnessed during farewell and funeral ceremonies for Ayatollah Khamenei in Iran earlier, “dealt a humiliating defeat to global arrogance and the criminal United States” by truly reflecting the extent of popular support for the martyred Leader in spite of efforts by Washington and its allies to reflect a falsified picture of events on the ground.
