Overnight Israeli strike kills six civilians in southern Lebanon

Plumes of black smoke rise up into the sky following Israeli airstrikes against residential neighborhoods in southern Lebanon.

At least six people have been killed and seven others wounded after an overnight Israeli airstrike targeted a residential building in southern Lebanon, despite a ceasefire agreement being announced last month.

According to Lebanon’s official National News Agency, the air raid struck the inhabited house in the town of Kfar Dounine, and those wounded were taken to hospitals in the nearby city of Tyre to receive medical treatment.

Israeli artillery units also shelled the perimeters of the towns of Mansouri and Majdal Zoun in the early hours of Tuesday. There were, however, no immediate reports about possible casualties and the extent of damage caused.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army issued new evacuation orders for residents of the southern Lebanese towns and villages of Arzoun, Tayr Debba, al-Bazouriyah, and al-Hawsh, warning civilians to leave before planned offensives.

Israeli forces also destroyed a solar-powered water pumping station in the town of Deir Mimas overlooking the Litani River after explosives planted earlier detonated, causing extensive damage to a facility supplying drinking water.

Furthermore, the Israeli army said its military aircraft had struck more than 1,100 sites belonging to the Hezbollah resistance movement and killed more than 350 fighters since the ceasefire agreement began on April 17.

Lebanese authorities say at least 2,869 people have been killed, another 8,730 individuals wounded, and more than one million displaced since Israel resumed its aggression on Lebanon on March 2.
