Iran Navy pledges to punish enemy with ‘lethal’ strikes

Rear Admiral Shahram Irani

Iran’s Navy chief warns the enemies that their long list of crimes against the Iranian nation will never be forgotten and forgiven, vowing that “we will punish them” with lethal strikes from totally unexpected locations.

Rear Admiral Shahram Irani made the remarks on Tuesday, more than two weeks after destroyer IRIS Dena was torpedoed and sank by a US submarine off the southern coast of Sri Lanka, killing 84 sailors.

The Iranian military vessel was on its way home after participation in a naval exercise organized by India in the Bay of Bengal from February 18 to 25.

In a message praising the Iranian sailors of Dena, Iran’s Navy chief stressed that “the courageous martyrs of destroyer IRIS Dena made the impossible feats of Iran’s naval history possible.”

“During their epic presence around the globe, they hoisted the Iranian national flag on seas and oceans across the world, becoming the grand symbol of Iran’s Navy in international waters through their fight against maritime terrorism and their contribution to maritime security,” he added.

Admiral Irani stressed that the if the “malicious enemy” had enough courage, they would engage in a manly and face-to-face fight, instead of torpedoing heralds of peace drills thousands of kilometers away from the battlefield, condemning the enemy for acting like pirates in their wicked conduct.

Iran’s Navy chief also emphasized that “all my comrades” in Iran’s Navy are determined to wreck vengeance for the blood of late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the martyrs of destroyer IRIS Dena and all commanders and people who were killed in the imposed war.

Admiral Irani further vowed that Iran’s Armed Forces will continue their crushing strikes against the aggressors until the final victory, stressing that the Iranian nation will definitely emerge triumphant.
