Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says Iran is determined to safeguard its independence, security, and sovereignty in the face of terrorism and foreign intervention.
In a phone conversation with Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi on Monday, Araghchi elaborated on the latest developments in Iran and the region.
Muttaqi condemned any foreign interference in the internal affairs of regional countries.
The Afghan foreign minister expressed confidence that the Iranian government and nation would protect their national security and sovereignty through unity.
The top Iranian and Afghan diplomats discussed mutual relations in various fields, particularly in the economic and trade sectors, and reviewed ways to improve relations and facilitate commercial exchanges.
The phone call came after peaceful protests across Iran, which started late December, turned violent, as rioters, incited by US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and aided by their spy agencies, rampaged through Iranian cities, killing members of security forces and civilians and attacking public infrastructure.
