Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has commanded the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy for successfully conducting a military exercise in the Persian Gulf, stating that new homegrown long-range missiles were employed during the drill.

In his address to an open parliamentary session in the capital Tehran on Sunday, Qalibaf praised the accurate missile strikes and the successful test launch of advanced long-range and precision missiles domestically developed by Iranian technicians in the course of the two-day war game, codenamed Shahid Mohammad Nazeri, calling the achievement a source of national pride.

The naval drill kicked off on Thursday and took place across the Persian Gulf, the Naze’at maritime zone – Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Siri islands, the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the Sea of Oman.

Qalibaf noted that the weaponry employed during the IRGC Navy’s major exercise have a strike radius beyond the Persian Gulf maximum length of 989 kilometers (615 miles).

The top Iranian legislator underscored that the missiles could hit the designated targets with great precision.

Earlier, the deputy commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters announced that sophisticated and smart weapons, all developed domestically, were utilized during the Shahid Mohammad Nazeri naval drill in southern Iran.

Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari noted that the long-range, highly precise, and advanced smart systems employed in the military exercise were entirely developed domestically by the Defense Ministry and the IRGC Navy.

Commending the strong morale of the IRGC naval forces during the drill, Heidari said effective coordination, leadership, and detailed planning played a key role in executing the war game with exceptional precision in the waters of the Sea of Oman and the Persian Gulf.
