Iran’s taekwondo poomsae duo clinch triple gold at Asian Youth Games

Iran’s mixed taekwondo poomsae team have secured their third gold at the Asian Youth Games, defeating Thailand in the final.

Iran’s Zeinab Shahriari and Behdad Naqiee delivered a stellar performance in mixed poomsae taekwondo on Thursday, claiming the Islamic Republic’s third gold at the Asian Youth Games.

After defeating Pakistan in the opening round, the duo overcame South Korea (8.65) in the quarters and Chinese Taipei (8.63) in the semis.

In a thrilling final, Shahriari and Naqiee edged Thailand with 8.78 points to secure gold. The duo had already added two individual golds to their medal haul.

The competition was held at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Center.
