Iraq launched a tree-planting campaign across the city, enhancing its green spaces in a drive that aims to improve air quality and combat global warming.
Volunteers, members of Baghdad mayoralty and police were planting trees across multiple locations in Baghdad and along streets.
The spokesperson of the mayoralty of Baghdad, Uday al-Jandeel, said the initiative is considered "the largest tree-planting campaign within the capital, Baghdad, during the autumn season" during which more than 300,000 will be planted.
Iraq was among the five countries most affected by climate change and the 39th most water stressed, according to a 2022 United Nations report.
