Iran’s decisive response in 12-day war deterred future miscalculations: Top general
Iran’s top military commander says the Islamic Republic’s enemies received a haunting blow at the hands of the nation and its Armed Forces during the 12-day war, making it highly unlikely for them to resort to another miscalculation.
Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi made the remarks during a webinar on Monday, basing his forecast on the quality of the country’s defensive and retaliatory response to the unlawful war that was imposed on the country by the Israeli regime and the United States in June.
“By their own admission, they (the adversaries) had been planning for 15 years, arming, preparing, organizing infiltrators, and rehearsing their plans multiple times,” he said. “They believed they had chosen the best possible moment and [believed they had] executed their scheme with precision,” he added.
“Yet, under the command of Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei], with divine grace, the vigilance of the nation, and the courage of our Armed Forces, this proud nation served them an unforgettable slap.”
Iran’s response to the warfare featured an initial defensive phase that included the downing of hundreds of invading Israeli drones worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and the neutralization and capture of collaborators.

The second phase saw the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) retaliate by firing hundreds of ballistic missiles, including hypersonic variants, towards strategic nuclear, military, and industrial targets across the occupied Palestinian territories.
The reprisal came as part of Operation True Promise III, a sequel to two similarly triumphant anti-Israeli counteroffensives.

It targeted the heart of Tel Aviv, which is the regime's economic hub; Haifa, its most important deep-water port, and Be'er Sheva, its modern development and technology epicenter.
Additionally, the Corps targeted al-Udeid Airbase in Qatar, the US Central Command’s most important regional outpost and the heart of American military operations in West Asia.

According to the commander, “Although our enemies are inherently savage and aggressive, it is highly unlikely, after the blow they suffered, that they will once again make a wrong move.”
However, Mousavi insisted, “We are carefully monitoring their movements. We are not warlike, but are fully prepared.”
Addressing the same subject matter, the official, meanwhile, asserted that the Islamic Republic’s response to any renewed aggression “will be completely different.”
The remarks echoed various Iranian authorities’ pledges that such retaliation would exceed the proportions of the country’s previous instances of reprisal against hostile actions.
