Israeli forces raid the homes of Palestinian prisoners ahead of their release under the deal to end the war in the Gaza Strip.

According to the first phase of the Gaza deal brokered by the US, Egypt, and Qatar, a large-scale exchange of Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners is scheduled to take place this week.

Nearly 1,950 Palestinian prisoners and detainees are set to be freed in exchange for 48 Israeli captives, dead or alive.

Israeli forces are conducting raids on the homes of Palestinian prisoners who are expected to be released as part of the captive exchange deal between Israel and the Hamas resistance movement.

Israeli soldiers entered the homes of the prisoners and searched their belongings.

Homes in Nablus, the Balata and Askar Al-Jadid refugee camps, as well as the towns of Salem to the east, Aqraba, and Zeita Jamma’in to the south, were raided.

Similar raids were conducted in Al-Khalil and the nearby Deir Samet, where one prisoner from the village is scheduled to be released on Monday, according to the Wafa news agency.

Israeli forces also issued threats to prisoners’ family members, warning them against holding any celebrations after their release, Wafa added.

According to the Gaza deal, Israeli forces must move out of the Palestinian territory back to the so-called “yellow line” within 24 hours, after which Hamas will release the remaining living prisoners within 72 hours.

Since the Israeli regime launched the genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, at least 67,682 Palestinians have been killed and 170,033 wounded, most of them women and children.

Experts say the actual death toll of Palestinians killed in Gaza is much higher, as thousands of unaccounted people killed in Israeli airstrikes and shelling remain buried under the rubble.
