Europe snapback gamble
E3 triggered the so-called snapback mechanism enshrined in the JCPOA while failing to abide by its own commitments. This as the UNSC fails to adopt a resolution that would have prevented the re-imposition of anti-Iran sanctions.
Iran has rejected an illegitimate move by the European troika, pointing out that the US has already ditched the deal. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council also said that despite Iran-IAEA cooperation, E3 actions effectively suspended the path of such cooperation.
