In another flagrant violation of a shaky ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, the Israeli military has carried out a strike against a vehicle in a southern part of the Arab country, killing at least one person.

The Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Lebanese Health Ministry said in a press release that a car was struck by a strike on Saturday on the Khardali road near Ain al-Qasab junction in the Nabatieh district.

The victim was from the town of Khiam and residing in Kfarkela.

The attack came a day after two members of the Hezbollah resistance movement were killed and 11 others wounded in two separate Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon.

Lebanon’s official National News Agency reported on Friday that an Israeli drone targeted a car in the town of Tebnine in the central sector of the southern border region.

It added that another unmanned aerial vehicle carried out a strike with a guided missile on a water tanker near the village of Ansar.

An unnamed intelligence source in the Lebanese army stated that “the two killed in the Tebnine and Ansar strikes were Hezbollah members – one named Hussein Hassan Ramadan and the other Ammar Hayel Qsaybani.”

Following significant losses sustained over nearly 14 months of conflict and the failure to meet its objectives in the offensive against Lebanon, Israel was compelled to accept a ceasefire with Hezbollah. This ceasefire took effect on November 27, 2024.

Since the agreement took effect, the occupying forces have been assaulting Lebanon, including airstrikes throughout the Arab nation, breaching the ceasefire.

On January 27, Lebanon announced its decision to extend the ceasefire with Israel until February 18.

Although the deadline has passed, Israel continues to maintain its occupation of five significant regions in southern Lebanon, namely Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill, all situated near the border.

Lebanon has condemned the continued presence of Israeli military forces, viewing it as a violation of the ceasefire agreement and the established timeline for withdrawal. Senior officials in Beirut have expressed their commitment to take “all necessary measures” to remove the occupying troops from the nation.
