Thousands of protesters joined an anti-US rally organized by the Candlelight Action group in Seoul on Saturday, as 300 Koreans returned home after US detention.
Footage shows protesters chanting 'Trump leave the earth' and 'Let's take revenge on the USA' at the rally near Gwanghwamun Station. Many held signs with anti-US and anti-government slogans, among others reading: 'Condemn the United States' and 'Dismiss People Power Party'.
Some went on to warn that the US treatment of other nations will eventually come back at it.
The demonstration comes after nearly 300 South Korean workers arrived in Korea on Friday, just days after being detained by US immigration authorities for allegedly working without proper visas at an EV battery plant construction site in Georgia, developed by Hyundai.
The employees, all from the South Korean construction firm GS E&C, had been detained during an immigration raid conducted by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the site in Bartow County.
They were later released from an Atlanta detention facility and allowed to return to South Korea voluntarily, departing on a chartered flight from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Thursday.
