A US lawmaker has condemned Washington’s financing of the war in Ukraine, describing the allocation of American taxpayers’ money to the Kiev forces to fight against Russian troops as a “betrayal” to the nation.
Republican lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene said US authorities betray Americans by financing the conflict in Ukraine, TASS reported on Sunday.
She wrote, “In 2024, America voted to end funding and fighting foreign wars,” referring to US President Donald Trump’s election victory.
“Funding, fueling, and ultimately fighting Russia in Ukraine would be a complete betrayal to the majority of Americans who want nothing to do with paying to murder people in some foreign land over a foreign conflict that has absolutely zero affect on our lives.”
“[T]he same scenario goes for continuing to fund and fight offensive wars on behalf of” the Israeli regime in occupied Palestinian territories,” she stated.
Greene was the first Republican lawmaker to use the term “genocide” for Israel’s genocidal war on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, hinting at a rift in Trump’s party over financing the Israeli wars.
By financing the wars in Ukraine and Israel, the Republican Party “will lose the younger generation of voters and may never get them back.”
Greene claimed the state of conflict requiring US financing with no clear plan that would lead to de-escalation is what the Democratic presidents wanted to pursue.
“Democrats 100 percent support the war in Ukraine because it was really started under Obama/Biden. It’s a Democrat driven war that also amassed the usual neocon Republican support,” she claimed.
Greene noted American voters “are beginning to feel completely unrepresented by both parties because of the absurd America LAST policies, votes, and taxpayer funding that has made life unaffordable and the future bleak for the vast majority of average Americans.”
The far-right politician from the southern state of Georgia insisted that all types of alarm signals are warning the Trump administration against the financing of the hell-bent leaders in Kiev and Tel Aviv to continue to wage wars with American taxpayers’ money.
“The warning signs are beginning to be blaring but Washington DC is still about as deaf as a fence post,” Greene added.
In the meantime, despite promising during the election campaign that he would end the Ukraine war in a day, Trump on July 14 said he will continue to deliver weapons, ammunition and military equipment to Kiev, including the Patriot systems Ukraine has been asking for.
Trump justified the delivery of American Patriot missiles to Kiev, saying he sees it as necessary to defend Ukraine against Russian airstrikes.
Thanks to President @POTUS for standing firm and delivering a clear message of peace through strength. @POTUS has already said he’s shortening the timeline he gave Putin, because he believes the answer is obvious.

Kiev leaders had warned that if Washington were to stop the flow of US arms and munitions to Ukraine, it would weaken their ability to defend themselves against Russian airstrikes and battlefield advances.
A top Kiev official thanked Trump this week for giving America’s full financial and political support to the war against Russia.
“Thanks to President @POTUS for standing firm and delivering a clear message of peace through strength,” Andriy Yermak, the head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, said on X, formerly Twitter. “(Russian President Vladimir) Putin respects only power — and that message is loud and clear. When America leads with strength, others think twice,” he tweeted.
