Bayrou’s austerity blitz risks social explosion in France

French Prime Minister François Bayrou has unveiled a sweeping austerity plan under the banner Stop Debt, aiming to save over 40 billion euros and cut the public deficit to meet EU rules.
The measures include freezing pensions and benefits, cutting healthcare reimbursements, slashing public jobs, and scrapping two holidays. The plan has triggered fierce political backlash and growing calls for mass protests.
