Civilians bear brunt of new US sanctions on Sudan

The United States has imposed new sanctions on Sudan, accusing the country’s army of using chemical weapons during its conflict with the rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

Sudan has denied the allegations, calling them politically-motivated. Aid groups warn the move could worsen the already dire humanitarian situation in the African country.
