Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi rejects a military solution to the crisis in Yemen, saying the United States must stop its heavy attacks against the country.

Takht Ravanchi made the remarks in a post on his X account on Saturday after he met with Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, in Tehran.

During the meeting, he said, the dangerous situation in Yemen was discussed.

“The continuous US heavy attacks against Yemen resulting in injuries and martyrdom of many civilians and the destruction of Yemen's infrastructures must stop,” the top Iranian diplomat added.

He emphasized that the current crisis in Yemen has no military solution.

Takht Ravanchi stressed the importance of making efforts to strengthen the ceasefire and implement the roadmap that has been agreed upon in the past.

“Iran is supportive of such endeavors,” he said.

The US and its allies have escalated their aggression against Yemen after the country resumed its anti-Israel operations over the regime’s renewed genocide in Gaza.

Washington said it will use overwhelming force until the Ansarallah resistance movement stops its anti-Israel operations.

Yemeni media reported on Saturday that the US has reportedly carried out 14 strikes on the outskirts of Sa’ada city, killing one person and wounding four others.

The latest attack comes after the US targeted more than 40 locations across Yemen, including in the capital, Sana’a, damaging multiple residential buildings and shops.

In a statement on Friday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei denounced the US's “illegal and unjustifiable” airstrikes against Yemen, saying the US military aggression against the country and violation of its territorial integrity are a “clear” threat to international peace and security.

He emphasized that the United Nations Security Council should end its inaction and silence vis-à-vis the US military operation in Yemen.
