A major Norwegian petrol company, Haltbakk Bunkers, has reportedly announced a ban on fuel sales to all US forces following the public dispute between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.
The firm took to social media on Saturday to declare its support for Zelensky, stating, “No fuel to Americans!”
“Today we have witnessed the greatest ‘sh*t show’ ever presented live on television, by the current American president and his vice president,” the company wrote in a statement posted on Facebook.
“Huge credit to the president of Ukraine for restraining himself and for keeping calm even though the USA put on a backstabbing TV show. It made us sick. Short and sweet,” it said.
“As a result, we have decided to immediately STOP as fuel provider to American forces in Norway and their ships calling Norwegian ports,” it added.
The owner, chairman, and CEO of Haltbakk Bunkers, which supplied approximately 3,000,000 liters of fuel to the US military in 2024, said the decision to cut supplies to the US military had been made right after they watched the clash.
“We choose our customers ... As you probably understand, not a liter will be delivered until Trump is finished,” Gunnar Gran said.
“Now the United States is excluded based on their behavior towards the Ukrainians,” Gran added.
Gran called on other firms in the country and across Europe to follow their lead and isolate the Americans.
“We encourage all Norwegians and Europeans to follow our example,” Gran added.
Zelensky had walked into a meeting at the White House on Friday, prepared to sign a mineral deal with the US, but left empty-handed.
Trump and Vice President JD Vance criticized Zelensky for what they saw as his lack of gratitude for previous US support.
“You’re gambling with millions of people … You’re gambling with World War Three,” Trump told Zelensky.
