Greek Orthodox Archbishop of occupied al-Quds, Atallah Hanna, has paid a glowing tribute to Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, saying the Palestinian people will always remain faithful to his sacrifices.

Hanna delivered a message in eulogy of Hezbollah's chief ahead of a grand funeral in Lebanon for Nasrallah on Sunday, calling him the Islamic “Ummah’s Master of Martyrs”.

"In just a few days, Lebanon will witness an extraordinary and historic event—the funeral of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and his fellow martyrs," the message read.

"From al-Quds, we stand in reverence and honor for his sacrifices, as well as those of his companions, who stood with Palestine, defended it, and paid a heavy price for its cause," he said.

Nasrallah was assassinated in a huge Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs on September 27, 2024, as Israel scaled up its ferocious campaign against Hezbollah following almost a year of exchange of fire in solidarity with Gazans.

"We remain loyal to these sacrifices, and the entire Palestinian people remain faithful to the sacrifices of His Eminence and his comrades," Hanna said, referring to Nasrallah.

“As we offer our condolences and send a message of sympathy from the heart of our sacred city, we affirm that we will never forget those who stood with Palestine and defended it in the darkest times and the most difficult circumstances,” he added.

Hanna warned of a conspiracy against the Palestinian cause, referring to US President Donald Trump’s plan to evacuate the Gaza population to Egypt and Jordan.

“Our enemies seek to displace our people and liquidate our cause, but Palestinians will not raise the flag of surrender. They remain steadfast in their rights, principles, and convictions,” he said.

“The word ‘surrender’ does not exist in our Palestinian vocabulary,” said Hanna, whose full title is the archbishop of Sebastian Diocese of Greek Orthodox Church in occupied al-Quds.

"We are one family, one Ummah, standing against colonial projects that do not target Palestine alone, but the entire Ummah. Our message has always been, and will remain, that Palestine is the compass," Hanna said.

The archbishop stressed the need for Christians and Muslims of all sects to stand united, especially in when the enemies seek division and fragmentation, to incite sectarianism and discord to push forward their “colonial plans that target Palestine and the Ummah”.

"We, Christians and Muslims of the Levant, will remain one united Ummah, with al-Quds as our compass and Palestine as our cause," Hanna said.

"We are one family—this is who we have always been, and this is who we will remain."
