Rights groups say two more Palestinian abductees from Gaza have lost their lives inside the Israeli regime’s jails.

Commission of Detainees’ Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS), the Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association confirmed in a joint statement on Wednesday that Mohammad Sharif Al-Asalin and Ibrahim Ashour lost their lives.

The statement said Asali, who was abducted at Gaza’s Shifa Hospital in March 2024, died on May 17. According to his family, Asali, a father of four, had no chronic health issues.

Like Asali, Ibrahim Ashour was also abducted while being treated in a hospital.

The Israeli regime’s forces took him from Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis on February 14, 2024. He died on June 23. He had no chronic health issues either, the statement said.

The Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs and PPS stated that the number of Palestinian abductees killed in Israeli jails since October 7, 2023, has risen to 58, including 37 from Gaza.

The human rights groups added that the issue of the death of the two abductees constitutes a new crime of the regime.

“What is happening to the prisoners and detainees is nothing but another aspect of the war of extermination, and its goal is to carry out more executions and assassinations against the prisoners and detainees.”

The rights groups said the regime not only kills abductees but also deliberately manipulates information about their fate.

For instance, in the case of Asalin and Ashour, the regime continuously provided multiple, conflicting responses.

Specifically for Ashour, the organizations received various reports over time.

The organizations assumed he was being kept in Ofer Camp. The last known response from the regime in November 2024 was that he had been transferred for interrogation. The final confirmation, however, stated that he had died.
