Iran rejects Trump’s plan to forcibly displace Gazans from ‘homeland’
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has rejected US President Donald Trump’s plan to forcibly relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Jordan and Egypt.
Baghaei posted a message on X on Tuesday, after Trump called for the relocation to Egypt, Jordan and other Arab countries to “just clean out” the war-torn area.
“The idea of cleaning out Gaza as part of the plan for the colonial annihilation of Palestinian people has long been underway using American lethal weapons and ammunition, as well as its political, intelligence and financial support,” Baghaei stated.
He said the Israeli regime’s 15-month-long campaign of genocide has failed to uproot the Palestinians, and that political coercion and demographic manipulations could not force them to leave.
“This is their homeland and they've paid extremely high price to remain there and continue their heroic struggle for self-determination and freedom,” Baghaei said.

Trump's call came despite fierce opposition from Cairo and Amman to the plan, which has been labeled as "ethnic cleansing."
Trump claimed the move can “bring peace” to West Asia if Egypt, Jordan, and other Arab nations accept enough Palestinian refugees.
In provocative remarks on January 25, Trump first floated the idea to “clean out” the blockaded Palestinian territory, which, he said, has been become a “demolition site.”
Trump said he had already spoken with King Abdullah II of Jordon about potentially building housing and relocating more than one million Palestinians from Gaza.
Cairo and Amman have formally rejected Trump’s proposal. Egypt and Jordan are longtime opponents of the displacement of Palestinians.
Virtually all of the 2.4 million inhabitants of Gaza have been internally displaced since October 2023. Israel has massacred over 47,300 Palestinians, mostly women and children, since.
The regime accepted a ceasefire earlier this month after having failed to realize any of its wartime objectives, including “eliminating” the Gaza resistance.
Analysts say any plans for relocating the displaced Palestinians will give the regime the excuse it needs to forcibly expel the population from Gaza, and repopulate the territory with Israeli settlers.
