The Palestinian Hamas resistance group has condemned the Israeli military’s ongoing attacks on the Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza as an “unprecedented crime against humanity.”

In a statement released on Sunday, Hamas said Israeli assaults have been hitting shelters, schools, and medical facilities, especially the Kamal Adwan hospital, situated in Beit Lahia.

It came after Israel ordered the closure and evacuation of the hospital, which is still barely functioning in the besieged Gaza.

Hamas said the threats to forcefully remove patients, the injured, and displaced people from the hospital is “a crime of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement” amid international silence and inaction.

“The occupation army continues its brutal bombing and systematic destruction of areas in the north of the Gaza Strip, especially Jabalia, its refugee camp, and Beit Lahia,” it added.

The resistance group also called on the “Arab and Muslim nations,” as well as governments and global entities, to take immediate action to support Palestinians, protect their holy sites, and liberate their land from the Israeli occupation.

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the Kamal Adwan Hospital’s director, said obeying the order to shut down was “next to impossible” because there were not enough ambulances to get patients out.

“We currently have nearly 400 civilians inside the hospital, including babies in the neonatal unit, whose lives depend on oxygen and incubators. We cannot evacuate these patients safely without assistance, equipment, and time,” he told Reuters.

“We are sending this message under heavy bombardment and direct targeting of the fuel tanks, which if hit will cause a large explosion and mass casualties of the civilians inside.”

Israel unleashed a genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, after Hamas carried out a historic operation against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

So far, the Tel Aviv regime has killed at least 45,259 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 107,627 others.

Israel has targeted hospitals in its bloody onslaught, damaging or destroying Gaza’s most important healthcare centers in blatant violation of international law.
