Israeli military admits failure to intercept ballistic missile from Yemen

The Israeli military has acknowledged that it has failed to intercept a missile launched from Yemen that struck the central part of the Israeli-occupied territories which left 16 people injured. 

The Israeli military made the remark on its Telegram channel on Saturday, hours after the emergency service in the occupied territories said 16 settlers were wounded as the Yemeni projectile landed in southern Tel Aviv.

“Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in central Israel, one projectile launched from Yemen was identified and unsuccessful interception attempts were made,” it said.

Israeli police also noted that “a short time ago, reports were received of a weapon falling in one of the settlements within the Tel Aviv district.”

According to Israeli media, the missile fell in the town of Bnei Brak, east of Tel Aviv. It was at least the sixth such missile attack over the past month.

It set off air-raid sirens instructing hundreds of thousands of Israeli settlers to enter reinforced bomb shelters.

At least 20 Israeli settlers have sustained injuries after a ballistic missile launched from Yemen struck the central part of the Israeli-occupied territories.

A spokesman for the emergency medical service in the occupied territories also said, “Additional teams are treating several people on-site who were injured while heading to protected areas, as well as those suffering from anxiety.”

In a statement, Yemen's Ansarullah resistance movement claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it had targeted Tel Aviv with a hypersonic ballistic missile, in a fresh operation against the Israeli regime and in support of the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The latest missile attack came two days after Israeli warplanes flew over 1,000 miles to bomb sites in Yemen, including the capital. The Israeli military said power plants as well as fuel and oil tanks were targeted.

On Thursday, Yemeni forces also conducted a successful military operation against two “strategic” military sites in Tel Aviv, using ballistic missiles.

Yemeni army claims successful hypersonic missile attack on Tel Aviv

Yemen’s military says it has targeted Tel Aviv with a hypersonic ballistic missile, in support of the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Since the onset of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, the Yemeni forces have taken measures to assert their support for the Palestinian resistance in Gaza, targeting Israeli vessels in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Additionally, the Yemeni armed forces have launched several missile and drone attacks against Israeli-occupied territories, particularly focusing on Tel Aviv. They have pledged to continue these operations as long as Israel maintains its assaults on Gaza, signaling a potential for further escalation in the region.

So far, Israel has killed at least 45,227 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 107,573 others in Gaza.

In October, the US military deployed B-2 stealth bombers to bomb Yemen in support of Israel. Since then, attacks against Yemen have continued in a bid to halt the retaliatory attacks by Sana’a.
