Yemeni official warns of more options for retaliation as aggression escalates

Mohammad Ali Al-Houthi

A senior Yemeni official says the country has a plan for confrontation with its adversaries, including the US, vowing that more options for reprisal attacks will open as their aggression increases.

Mohammad Ali al-Houthi, a member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, made these remarks in an interview with the Lebanon-based Al-Mayadeen channel on Tuesday, hours after the US military stated it conducted an airstrike on Monday against a command and control facility in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.

American officials have escalated their threats against Yemen, and reports indicate that the Israeli regime is planning to strike the Arab country in response to missile and drone attacks on the occupied territories aimed at halting the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Al-Houthi vowed that they do not fear America, stating, “We have faced them for ten years,” pointing to a decade-long US-backed aggression by Saudi Arabia and its allies against Yemen.

He explained that the Yemeni Ministry of Defense "will do everything within its capacity and operational scope," emphasizing that "whatever moves by America will not deter the Yemeni people from their duty and mission."

"Our operations are ongoing, and we do not care about any movements, whether American or otherwise," he said. "America has been active for nine years, and this is the tenth year of aggression against our country in coalition with Saudi Arabia and the UAE, achieving nothing in its targeting."

Al-Houthi confirmed the continuation of Yemen’s operations against Israel, boasting that the scope of their attacks has reached the Mediterranean Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Gulf, and the Red Sea, as well as Tel Aviv and other areas.

"We have no ceiling or red lines as long as our people are being bombed, and Israeli genocide against the people of Gaza continues,” he said.

The Yemeni official also condemned the US airstrikes as a "barbaric and terrorist act," asserting that "the Yemeni people will not stop responding to them, and our battle continues with every aggressor against our country."

The Yemeni attacks against Israeli targets began on October 19, 2023, shortly after the genocide started in Gaza.

Ever since, they’ve conducted hundreds of drone and missile attacks on the regime. Also, they’ve imposed a semi-blockade on the regime, preventing the movement of Israeli-linked ships in waters in the region.

The Arab country has also been attacking the American navy and ships in response to the pro-Israel US airstrikes on the country over the past months.
