The Israeli occupation forces have issued new evacuation orders to Palestinians in a Gaza City suburb, setting off a new wave of displacement amid the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip.
The regime forces ordered the fresh evacuation for the Shejaia suburb on Sunday despite the already dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
In a tweet posted by the Israeli army spokesperson on X on Saturday night, the people in Gaza City suburbs were blamed for the firing of a rockets volley from that heavily built-up district in the north of the Gaza Strip.
“For your safety, you must evacuate immediately to the south,” the post said.
Palestinian families living in the targeted areas began fleeing their homes after nightfall on Saturday and into Sunday’s early hours, residents and Palestinian media said — the latest in multiple waves of displacement since the Israeli killing machine launched the genocidal war in October 2023.
Since then, the Gaza death toll has risen to 44,200 Palestinians with more than 104,500 others injured, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
The Israeli regime which has waged war on Gaza and Lebanon faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former war minister Yoav Gallant for their war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Meanwhile, in neighboring Lebanon, the government condemned the Israeli forces' attacks on its army as a "brazen rejection" of ceasefire efforts.
Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said Israel’s attack on an army center in the town of al-Amiriya in southern Lebanon would cancel the potential ceasefire efforts.
“The messages of the Israeli enemy, rejecting any solution, continue and are written in Lebanese blood, in a brazen rejection of the solution being discussed,” Mikati said in a post on X.
