Hezbollah destroys Israeli Merkava tanks, downs advanced drone

In the latest operations, Hezbollah said on Tuesday that it hit two Israeli Merkava tanks in south Lebanon.

Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah has carried out several retaliatory operations against Israeli military positions, inflicting heavy losses on the regime.

Hezbollah fighters on Tuesday managed to target two Merkava tanks in the town of Khiam using guided missiles.

“In support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance, and in defense of Lebanon and its people, at 04:00 PM on Tuesday, 29-10-2024, the fighters of the Islamic Resistance targeted Merkava tank in the Hamames area, south of the town of Al-Khiam, with a guided missile which led to its burning and the killing and wounding of its crew,” a Hezbollah statement said.

Another statement said that “fighters of the Islamic Resistance targeted a Merkava tank in the Hamames area of Al-Khiam town with a guided missile, leading to its burning and the killing and wounding of its crew.”

They also downed an Israeli Hermes-900 drone over the Marjeyoun area with a surface-to-air missile.

Hezbollah said that “at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, 29-10-2024, the fighters of the Islamic Resistance in the Air Defense Unit downed a Hermes-900 drone above the Marjeyoun area with a surface-to-air missile, and it was seen burning.”

The group also used rockets and artillery shells to target other Israeli positions across the occupied lands.

Several Israeli military bases, including Yi’ron, Baram and Dovev were among the spots targeted by the resistance fighters.

Hezbollah said it fired rockets on gatherings of Israeli regime forces, killing and wounding several troopers.

The Lebanese resistance movement has significantly scaled up its operations against the Israeli forces in response to a series of assassinations of its leaders, showcasing its advanced military capabilities.

Israel has been targeting Lebanon since October 2023, after Hezbollah announced the opening of a “support front” in response to the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, killing tens of thousands of Palestinians.

At least 2,710 people have been killed by Israeli fire, and 12,592 others wounded since the clashes began last year, the health ministry says.

Hezbollah has been responding to the aggression with numerous retaliatory operations, targeting the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Lebanese resistance movement has vowed to keep up its operations against Israel as long as the Israeli regime continues its Gaza war, which has so far killed at least 43,020 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
