Multiple casualties reported in mass shooting in Israeli occupied territories

The scene of the attack at Israel’s Beersheba Central Bus Station on October 6, 2024.

At least one person was shot dead and ten others have been injured in a mass shooting attack in south of the 1948 Israeli occupied territories.

Media reports quoting sources said the assailant targeted three different locations within the central bus station in the southern city of Bersheeba on Sunday.

"Paramedics have pronounced a 25-year-old female deceased, and are evacuating 10 casualties," Israel's emergency service said in a statement.

A police spokesman confirmed the shooting incident and ensuing casualties.

"A short time ago a report was received at the police headquarters about a suspected shooting incident at the central station in Beer Sheva," the spokesman said.

The latest incident comes as Israeli forces are on high alert for possible pro-Palestinian street attacks on the eve of the first  anniversary of the Israeli campaign of death and destruction in Gaza.

The incident comes just days after a major shooting operation by Palestinian resistance fighters in Tel Aviv last week.

The armed wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas later claimed responsibility for the assult that killed at least seven Israeli settlers.

Hamas and other resistance groups say such attacks are the "natural response" to Israel’s barbarism in Gaza.

Hamas warned at the time that such operations “will resume prominently” as long as the Israeli genocidal campaign in Gaza continues.

Nearly one year into the Israeli-US genocide in Gaza, more civilians are killed as Israeli air and artillery strikes continue to pound the blockaded territory.

In yet another massacre, the regime’s military bombed a mosque housing displaced Palestinians in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, leaving at least 26 killed. Nearly 100 others were injured in the attack.

Hamas strongly condemned the attack, saying the massacre amounts to war crimes with American cover.

Israeli warplanes also targeted areas in the Jabalia refugee camp as well as Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, leaving several Palestinians dead and injured.

The regime’s artillery is also shelling other areas in Gaza indiscriminately.

The Israeli aggression on Gaza began in October last year. Since then, more than 41,800 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 97,000 others injured.

The Israeli military is also pushing ahead with its attacks on Lebanon.

Israeli fighter jets conducted a series of airstrikes on a number of locations in and near the Lebanese capital Beirut Sunday morning.

The attacks killed about two dozen people on Saturday.

The regime says its strikes, which have intensified in recent weeks, target weapons depots and military infrastructure belonging to the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah.

But Lebanese health officials condemn the regime’s indiscriminate strikes that are killing civilians and rescue workers.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry says over 2,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since last October, most of them in the recent spate of airstrikes.

The ministry has also warned that the country's health care system is teetering on the brink of collapse.
