Foreign aid is not reaching Gaza, EU’s Borrell warns

EU’s Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell has sounded the alarm once more about the US-backed Israeli regime blocking international aid from reaching the defenseless Palestinian people trapped in the besieged Gaza Strip.

"No help is entering Gaza," Borrell said, reiterating that despite the dire situation facing the innocent children, women, and men in Gaza, the Israeli regime forces continue to surround the area and block the entry of water, food, and medicine.

“Despite all tactical pauses announced, the situation is that no help is entering Gaza,” he said upon arrival at the Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg on Monday.

“The help is stockpiling outside of the border. Some of these goods are perishing,” he emphasized.

Borrell said the latest ceasefire proposal suggested by US President Joe Biden and supported by the EU, failed after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly dismissed it.

Borrell insisted a ceasefire was "desperately" needed in the Gaza Strip. "Otherwise, the tragedy will be incommensurable."

“The last declaration from Prime Minister Netanyahu confirms that unfortunately, this plan is not going to be implemented. We desperately need a ceasefire that could allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. Otherwise, the tragedy will be incommensurable. Well, it is already incommensurable," he said.

Netanyahu said on Sunday even if Tel Aviv agrees partially to some aspects of the US-proposed truce deal in order to return some of the Zionist captives held by the Hamas fighters in the Palestinian territory, the Israeli regime forces will continue the brutal genocidal war on Gaza.

The Israeli prime minister claimed that the "intense phase” of fighting with Hamas fighters in the southern town of Rafah is nearly over. “But that does not mean that the war will be over.”

Once the intense phase of the Gaza war was over, he said, Israeli forces would “face north” where the Israeli regime forces would launch Tel Aviv’s “first and foremost" war. Netanyahu once again repeated his goal is “to uproot” the Hamas resistance movement from across all of the Gaza Strip.

The Hamas governing body in Gaza said Netanyahu’s comments were a "clear confirmation of his rejection” of the US-proposed truce deal which had also received the backing of the United Nations’ Security Council as well as the EU.

The Israeli regime forces launched the genocidal war on Gaza almost 9 months ago killing over 37,500 Palestinians, mostly innocent children and women.

People from all walks of society across the world have been demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, calling on Tel Aviv leaders to stop their brutal aggression to allow humanitarian aid to reach trapped Palestinians.
