Hamas: Israel’s destruction at Rafah crossing amounts to war crime

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has denounced as “a war crime" Israel’s latest destruction of facilities at the Rafah border crossing.

In a statement released on Monday, the resistance movement said Israel’s burning of the departure hall and other facilities inside the crossing needs to be condemned globally.

Hamas described the move as a “criminal act and brutal behavior” that confirms Israel's “genocide in Gaza.”

It was a “criminal and barbaric behavior,” Hamas stated.

The “Nazi behavior, which is a clear-cut war crime, requires taking the necessary measures to hold the occupying authorities accountable for their destruction of a civilian facility,” Hamas said.

The statement said Israel “bears the consequences of this crime, which resulted in cutting off Palestinians' communication with the outside world.”

Hamas also underscored the need for the facilitation of travel and entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

Rafah operation lays bare Israel’s failure against resistance: Qassam Brigades

Qassam Brigades hails a complex ambush against the Israeli military’s vehicles in Gaza’s southern city of Rafah which it said exposed the enemy’s failure in the face of Palestinian fighters.

On Monday, the Israeli military burned down the departure hall on the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, eventually disconnecting Palestinians in the besieged territory.

Several Palestinian social media accounts shared images of the departure hall being completely burned down.

In early May, Israel invaded Rafah, a city at the southern tip of Gaza. It came despite repeated international warnings. Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice.
