Yemen is cooperating with Russia, China and the BRICS countries to bring about the collapse of the Western hegemony and unilateralism in the world, says a Yemeni official.

Ali al-Qahoum, a member of the Yemeni resistance movement Ansarullah’s political bureau, said in a post on X on Saturday that the exchange of expertise and experiences between Yemen and BRICS countries will lead to “drowning the US, the UK and the West in the swamp of the Red Sea and on the high seas.”

The goal is to “drown the US, the UK and the West in the mire [the crisis] around the Red Sea so that they can be bogged down, weakened and unable to maintain the unipolar [world order],” al-Qahoum said.

He further noted that Yemen has entered into the equation of supporting Palestine and the major and strategic equation of the Red Sea that has resulted in the balance of military, security, political, and economic benefits.

The Ansarullah official said that Yemen was able to represent a major and strategic equation even before other global powers came in line.

“Yemen plans for the foreseeable future and prepares for the historic defeat of the US, the UK and the West, and the collapse of the colonial project and Western hegemony in the region and the world,” al-Qahoum added.

Yemen’s Armed Forces on Friday announced the start of their new pro-Palestinian operations in the Indian Ocean by targeting several Israeli and American ships in the body of water in protest at the Israeli regime’s US-backed genocidal war against the Gaza Strip.

The Yemeni forces have been targeting Israeli vessels or those “associated” with the occupying regime in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea in retaliation for the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on Gaza, which began on October 7.

The US and Britain formed a naval coalition in December to counter Yemen’s operations in the Red Sea and began bombing the Arab country in support of the Israeli regime.

Al-Qahoum said on Saturday that the insistence of Washington and London to press ahead with their acts of aggression against Yemen at the behest of the Tel Aviv regime will inevitably boomerang on themselves, and will definitely fan the flames of the regional crisis.

Yemeni Defense Minister Major General Mohammed al-Atifi said Sunday that the country’s military will continue their maritime operations against Israeli-linked vessels as well as US and British interests in the Red Sea area, stressing that the Sana’a government is going to establish “new rules of engagement” against Washington and London.
