Iranian intelligence forces have managed to identify and arrest a high-profile member of the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group in the country’s southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan close to the border with Pakistan.

According to Tasnim news agency, the terrorist, identified only by his initials as A.H., was captured following complicated intelligence operations and careful monitoring both inside Iran and abroad.

The report added that the terrorist was planning to recruit operatives, establish terror cells, form and train a team of assassins, and carry out acts of sabotage and terrorist operations in the province.

He had created several accounts on social media platforms and managed to assemble teams comprising of foreign nationals and Iranian citizens in the far-flung regions of Sistan and Baluchestan, Tasnim noted.

Sistan and Baluchestan province, which borders Pakistan, has witnessed several terror attacks targeting both civilians and security forces over the past years.

Terrorist groups carrying out attacks against Iranian interests in the southeastern and southwestern parts of the country have known links to a number of repressive regimes in the Persian Gulf region.

Iran’s security forces have invariably protected the border areas and managed to repel almost all terrorist attacks by foreign-backed anti-revolution elements across the country.

Back in May, Iranian security forces arrested a Daesh Takfiri terrorist in Sistan and Baluchestan province who was pursuing a “fiendish plot.”

Provincial police commander General Doostali Jalilian told reporters at the time that the forces, following “technical and intelligence measures”, found out that a Daesh member was secretly living in a village in Zabol County.
