British police have declared a “major incident” after being called to multiple attacks and finding three people murdered in Nottingham city center on Tuesday.
Early on Tuesday morning, two people were found dead by the police at 4:00 am on Ilkstone Road in the city center.
A third man was found dead on Magdala Road nearby. A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
In a second incident, officers were called to Milton Street as a van attempted to run people over, injuring three. All three are being treated at the hospital and no information has been reported on their health status.
The police believe all three incidents are linked.
In a statement, Nottinghamshire Chief Constable Kate Meynell called it a “horrific and tragic incident” saying the police believe “these three incidents are all linked.”
The police have launched a murder investigation saying the investigation is in its early stages.
Nottingham Police announced the six main roads are closed, while tram and bus services are suspended. Most of the city is cordoned off as public transportation is shut down and in chaos.
The Nottingham Express Transit (NET) tram network also said it has suspended all services due to “major police incidents around the city and suburbs.”
