In the Italian Serie A, AS Roma have survived a late scare to edge lowly Cagliari Calcio 1-0 at home.

Roma were awarded a penalty after the half-hour mark, and new signing Sergio Oliveira made no mistake from the spot to put the hosts in front. And if it wasn’t for Rui Patricio, who pushed the ball onto the bar with a fine save 6 minutes from time, Roma would have settled for a draw. Jose Mourinho’s men are now 6th in the table on 32 points, whereas Cagliari remain in the drop zone, 2 points adrift of safety.
